Alabama cleaning house?

tommy-tubervilleIs it just me or is Alabama literally eating the SEC alive? The Crimson Tide are ranked number one and since their recent dominance, three other SEC head coaches have stepped down. First it was Fulmer of Tennessee, then it was Croom at Mississippi State, and now it’s Tuberville at Auburn.

Tuberville resigned today after a decade in Auburn, recording 85 wins, 13 of which came in his 2004 perfect season. I just feel like Nick Saban and his recruiting is taking the fight out of all these SEC coaches that are calling it quits. You could argue that they all had it coming for themselves, but it’s a lot more fun to make Saban out to be the devil and what not. The Auburn job now becomes very attractive to someone like, let’s just say, Mike Leach? Auburn is a well-known SEC school that has the talent from the area and the players that would be more than happy to play there. The challenge? Recruiting against Nick Saban. If Mike Leach happened to land in Auburn, the recruiting battle would be won, not by the coaches, but by the players and what system they want to play in. You’ll be a great college player for Mike Leach but you’ll be a better pro under Nick Saban, at least that’s what it seems like at this point.

Nope, Alabama’s not “literally” eating anyone alive. That would be pretty gross.

They’ve been one hell of a force but it’ll be interesting to see how the SEC stacks up against the Big 12 in bowl games

Ha, I know, couldn’t resist being a smart ass.

I would have loved to see Texas play Alabama instead of Ohio State. Texas should roll over the Buckeyes but I think Bama would have been a great match up.
