MTV proves how much of a joke it really is…again

Just when I thought MTV couldn’t be polluted with any more horrible and ridiculous reality shows…MTV goes off and proves me wrong. MTV is obviously not what it used to be, which was new music and entertaining music videos. Now, the once loved-by-many television station is barely watchable by anyone over the age of 14. MTV’s newest addition is a reality show called “Bromance” which involves nine typical boring males competeing to become a piece of  Brody Jenner’s entourage. For those who do not know, Jenner is the son of former Olympian Bruce Jenner and a regular actor on one of MTV’s other crap shows, ‘The Hills’. As MTV describes:

Since it’s virtually impossible to find a genuine friend in Hollywood, the contestants must compete in various challenges to prove they’re the right man for Brody. They are put through the wringer to prove they are trustworthy, reliable and fun … in other words, a true bro.

Are you kidding? How can producers expect anyone to watch this kind of stuff? I must admit, amongst all my MTV bashing, I am a fan of their series entitled ‘True Life’. It is a type of reality shows but it documents the lives of people living under different circumstances, some more difficult than others. Yea it’s reality television, but at least it’s informative. You can actually learn a lot just by watching the short program. So I may not be completely innocent of committing the should-be crime of watching MTV but I would hope that NO ONE watches this new ‘Bromance’ joke. Don’t believe how bad it really is? Check out the trailer if you have 2 minutes to waste:

Your nose must have been bleeding for so long its drained your brain!!!
So you think you’re smarter and more discerning than the millions of happy viewers who enjoy Brody Jenner on the Hills, and the ADORABLE, FUNNY trailer of BROMANCE?
I can’t wait to tune in Brody’s new show, and tune you out!!

Geez, MTV is producing ANOTHER braindead show with ANOTHER has-been (wait-he-never-was-anything) person.

I like reality TV, but MTV is just adding to the craptastic reality shows that show insecure and socially inept people embarassing themselves by losing all respect and credibility in front of the cameras.

The show won’t be able to keep the audience’s attention with just close-up’s of Brody’s face and shiny things on the screen. It lacks substance. Maybe those friend-seeking participants should find friends through school, work, sports, clubs and social networking – you know, like everyone else.

By the way… how’s Paris Hiltons BFF doing?

    Lisa,

I do not believe I am smarter than anyone, this guy or the next. But I do believe I have a good enough taste in television to realize that “Bromance” is one of the most awful shows to ever hit the network. To think that a good show is made out of a do-nothing, non-working, money-inheriting, LA kid is extremely shameful. As for the trailer, the words ‘adorable’ and ‘funny’ were probably the only words that didn’t come to mind. If competeing for friends is the entertainment that Americans so desperately crave, the whole country is in a world of hurt. This “Bromance” show will be nothing more than a kid who spends money that he didn’t earn and embarrasses the nine insecure guys that decided to compete. I can’t knock anyone for expressing their opinion (that’s what blogs are about) and I can’t get mad about people who find this stuff entertaining, rather I would suggest that you tune in to something with a little more substance (a lot more substance). Nonetheless, enjoy the new “Bromance” and be sure to check back in and let me know what you think. Thank you for your comments and support, I appreciate it.
