Why Boldin shouldn’t act like T.O. right now

anquan-boldin-2For those of you who are not familiar with the Anquan Boldin situation that happened on Sunday, he acted like a brat. He was shown on the sidelines (on national television) screaming at his offensive coordinator while the man was trying to call plays and close out the NFC Championship game.

I understand that yelling matches sometimes happen on the sidelines of football games, they all have egos. But do you think you could lay off the guy who is trying to help get the team to the Super Bowl?

Boldin was apparently upset with his status towards the end of the game – when he was benched for Steve Breaston without explanation. Then, to make matters worse, Boldin reportedly skipped the team celebrations and slipped out of the back door. In my opinion, this is a bonehead move on Boldin’s part. Although I don’t know the details of his situation in Arizona (it was a reported contract dispute in August), it is usually between player and management, not between a player and his teammates.

Boldin asked for a trade in August and will probably seek a trade at the end of his Super Bowl run. Why on Earth would you act like Terrell Owens during such a crucial part of the season? Rather than making a scene on the sidelines, Boldin should be acting like an angel – hoping to draw even more attention to his solid character and team-first attitude. He already has a reputation for being respectful as a teammate and employee; why screw that up now?

There are many teams that would love to add Anquan Boldin to their roster this offseason. He would be a fool to ruin that because of a temper tantrum. In order for the Cards to have a chance at winning the Super Bowl, Anquan Boldin must act his age and come out and do whatever the coaches ask of him. Even if Boldin finsihes the game with zero catches, he was still a threat and caused other teams to battle both he and Fitzgerald.

I like you Anquan and I want to see you do well, don’t pull a T.O. right now.
